The first show of the year, Hip Hop SeaZon showcase #19 was a great way to kick off 2016. There were a number of artists in the building, all excited and ready to deliver performances that would win over the crowd, and ultimately make them one thousand dollars richer.

Rapper E-Reign kicked off the show performing “It Ain’t That Serious”, and DJ Pablo and crowd favorite, “Grinding Everyday”. After this it was time for Group A to hit the stage, a group that was full of surprises. J. Legato performed first with two dancers, adding a different element to the showcase, while Kid Pro from Jersey encouraged the crowd to “be original” with his high-energy performance and rapid fire flow, over a piano driven beat.

Next up was J-$moothe from the Bronx to kick off the performances for Group B, rhyming over a boom-bap beat while spitting positive lyrics and keeping the crowd engaged. Other highlights from Group B included NYC native, Gemini, who brought a lot of energy to the stage, and Toronto Frost, reppin’ Canada, who delivered some quality bars. To close out Group B, reigning champ out of Harlem, She Real took the stage, this time with three dancers, lights and smoke.

After this, first up in Group C was Maryland native, J Rose, who performed a smooth R&B song for the Hip Hop SeaZon audience. Rad from Queens and Mason from Jersey were also two of the standouts from Group C.

Although there were a lot of great performances, ultimately it was She Real who took home the title for a second time. Her stage presence and the addition of dancers to her set took her performance to the next level.
